# Game Maps IRL vs Bar Whisper

Game Maps IRL and Bar Whisper both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Bar Whisper's written reviews are positive against 19% of Game Maps IRL's. Bar Whisper also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 6 weeks) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Game Maps IRL's advantage is ratings volume (30K vs 10) and chart position (#14 vs unranked). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Game Maps IRL sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days and Bar Whisper sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Game Maps IRL against 4.7 for Bar Whisper. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Game Maps IRL has 30K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 19% of Game Maps IRL's written reviews are positive against 100% of Bar Whisper's.

Game Maps IRL ships an update every 6 weeks, Bar Whisper every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on November 8, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
