# Illuminator vs Lorecodex

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Lorecodex at none against Illuminator's 4. Lorecodex also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5). Illuminator's advantage is ratings volume (13 vs 1) and iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Illuminator sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Lorecodex asks for nothing beyond the download.

Lorecodex holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Illuminator has 13 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Illuminator ships an update every 2 months, Lorecodex every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
