# OptMsg vs Island Mail

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: OptMsg at none against Island Mail's 1. OptMsg also leads on ratings volume (7 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.5). Island Mail's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Island Mail sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. OptMsg asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for OptMsg against 5.0 for Island Mail. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OptMsg has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

OptMsg ships an update every 3 weeks, Island Mail weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
