# SmartNote vs Facets

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Facets at 100% against SmartNote's 50%. Facets also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.2). SmartNote's advantage is ratings volume (10 vs 2) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SmartNote sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Facets sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Facets holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SmartNote has 10 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 50% of SmartNote's written reviews are positive against 100% of Facets's.

SmartNote ships an update every 5 days, Facets weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
