# Arise vs Specimen

The clearest difference is monetization model: Specimen at free with in-app purchases against Arise's subscription. Specimen also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Arise's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (21K vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Arise sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Specimen sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Specimen holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Arise has 21K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Arise ships an update fortnightly, Specimen every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
