# RedTop vs Apex VPN

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: RedTop at none against Apex VPN's 3. RedTop also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). Apex VPN's advantage is ratings volume (698 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Apex VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days. RedTop asks for nothing beyond the download.

RedTop holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Apex VPN has 698 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

RedTop ships an update every 4 months, Apex VPN every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
