# WAVE vs OBD Diagnostics

The clearest difference is update cadence: WAVE at every 3 days against OBD Diagnostics's monthly. WAVE also leads on iOS requirement (18.0 vs 26.2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WAVE sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.49 per month and OBD Diagnostics sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

WAVE ships an update every 3 days, OBD Diagnostics monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
