# Fantasm vs Spirit Box

The clearest difference is update cadence: Spirit Box at every 6 weeks against Fantasm's every 3 months. Spirit Box also leads on iOS requirement (17.6 vs 26.0). Fantasm's advantage is ratings volume (76 vs 15). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fantasm sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Spirit Box sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Fantasm against 4.9 for Spirit Box. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fantasm has 76 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Fantasm ships an update every 3 months, Spirit Box every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
