# CNC Academy vs Essential Reef

The clearest difference is update cadence: Essential Reef at every 2 days against CNC Academy's weekly. Essential Reef also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). CNC Academy's advantage is ratings volume (78 vs 7). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for CNC Academy against 5.0 for Essential Reef. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CNC Academy has 78 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.
