# AP Prep vs Dolphin

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Dolphin at none against AP Prep's 2. Dolphin also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (1.3K vs 29). AP Prep's advantage is review sentiment (94% vs 84%). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AP Prep sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Dolphin asks for nothing beyond the download.

Dolphin holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dolphin has 1.3K ratings behind it against 29, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 94% of AP Prep's written reviews are positive against 84% of Dolphin's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

AP Prep ships an update monthly, Dolphin every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
