# Canary vs YAP Language Learning

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: YAP Language Learning at none against Canary's 12. YAP Language Learning also leads on review sentiment (67% vs 52%). Canary's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (420 vs 6). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Canary sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. YAP Language Learning asks for nothing beyond the download.

Canary holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Canary has 420 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Canary's written reviews are positive against 67% of YAP Language Learning's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Canary ships an update weekly, YAP Language Learning every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
