# Wholegrain vs Flixel Flipside

The clearest difference is rating: Wholegrain at 4.9 against Flixel Flipside's 1.0. Wholegrain also leads on ratings volume (8 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.6). Flixel Flipside's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Wholegrain sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Flixel Flipside sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Wholegrain holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Wholegrain has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Wholegrain ships an update every 4 months, Flixel Flipside every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
