# Metal Detector vs TextKeep

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Metal Detector at 100% against TextKeep's 58%. Metal Detector also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and rating (4.8 vs 4.4). TextKeep's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Metal Detector sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and TextKeep sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Metal Detector holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TextKeep has 300 ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Metal Detector's written reviews are positive against 58% of TextKeep's.

Metal Detector ships an update every 3 weeks, TextKeep every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
