# Brainrot vs Chess Shield

The clearest difference is rating: Brainrot at 4.5 against Chess Shield's 3.7. Brainrot also leads on ratings volume (22K vs 3). Chess Shield's advantage is monetization model (freemium vs subscription) and review sentiment (50% vs 18%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brainrot sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Chess Shield sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Brainrot holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brainrot has 22K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of Brainrot's written reviews are positive against 50% of Chess Shield's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Brainrot ships an update every 6 days, Chess Shield weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
