# OverHerd vs Traces

The clearest difference is rating: Traces at 5.0 against OverHerd's 4.1. Traces also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly). OverHerd's advantage is ratings volume (38 vs 1) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Traces holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OverHerd has 38 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

OverHerd ships an update weekly, Traces every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
