# Turtle vs Avatar Maker

The clearest difference is ads: Turtle at none against Avatar Maker's shown. Turtle also leads on update cadence (daily vs every 3 weeks). Avatar Maker's advantage is ratings volume (449 vs 5) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Turtle sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $199.99 per year and Avatar Maker sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 2.2 for Turtle against 2.3 for Avatar Maker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Avatar Maker has 449 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 20% of Turtle's written reviews are positive against 27% of Avatar Maker's.

Turtle ships an update daily, Avatar Maker every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
