# Step Rival vs StepBeacon

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: StepBeacon at none against Step Rival's 14. Step Rival's advantage is ratings volume (12 vs 1). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Step Rival sells 14 one-off in-app purchases. StepBeacon asks for nothing beyond the download.

StepBeacon holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Step Rival has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.
