# Brainblast vs Scholarly

The clearest difference is monetization model: Brainblast at ad-supported against Scholarly's subscription. Brainblast also leads on review sentiment (61% vs 26%). Scholarly's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (4.3K vs 586). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brainblast sells 20 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Scholarly sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Brainblast against 4.7 for Scholarly. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scholarly has 4.3K ratings behind it against 586, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 61% of Brainblast's written reviews are positive against 26% of Scholarly's.

Brainblast ships an update every 2 days, Scholarly every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
