# Measuring Tape AR. vs SMS Virtual

The clearest difference is monetization model: Measuring Tape AR. at freemium against SMS Virtual's subscription. SMS Virtual's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (121 vs 14). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Measuring Tape AR. sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and SMS Virtual sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SMS Virtual holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SMS Virtual has 121 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
