# Mentive vs Magnetic Field Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: Mentive at 5.0 against Magnetic Field Scanner's 4.3. Mentive also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.6). Magnetic Field Scanner's advantage is ratings volume (12 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mentive sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Magnetic Field Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mentive holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Magnetic Field Scanner has 12 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Mentive ships an update weekly, Magnetic Field Scanner every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
