# Mentive vs QR Code Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: Mentive at 5.0 against QR Code Scanner's 4.5. Mentive also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.6). QR Code Scanner's advantage is ratings volume (11 vs 2). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mentive sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and QR Code Scanner sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mentive holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: QR Code Scanner has 11 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
