# ChessLock vs Blob

The clearest difference is monetization model: ChessLock at freemium against Blob's subscription. ChessLock also leads on ads (none vs shown) and device support (3 vs 1). Blob's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ChessLock sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Blob sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Blob holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 3 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 67% of ChessLock's written reviews are positive against 100% of Blob's.

ChessLock ships an update fortnightly, Blob weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 26, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
