# Ember vs Melt

The clearest difference is monetization model: Melt at free with in-app purchases against Ember's subscription. Melt also leads on ads (none vs shown) and device support (3 vs 1). Ember's advantage is ratings volume (711 vs 7). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ember sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and Melt sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Ember against 4.4 for Melt. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ember has 711 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Ember ships an update weekly, Melt every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
