# Smart Scale vs Scale

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Scale at 100% against Smart Scale's 19%. Scale also leads on rating (4.4 vs 3.1) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). Smart Scale's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scale sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Smart Scale asks for nothing beyond the download.

Scale holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scale has 122 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 19% of Smart Scale's written reviews are positive against 100% of Scale's.

Smart Scale ships an update every 2 months, Scale every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
