# MindChess vs Chess Pro Trainer™

The clearest difference is update cadence: Chess Pro Trainer™ at every 3 days against MindChess's every 3 weeks. Chess Pro Trainer™ also leads on ratings volume (14 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MindChess sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Chess Pro Trainer™ sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for MindChess against 5.0 for Chess Pro Trainer™. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess Pro Trainer™ has 14 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

MindChess ships an update every 3 weeks, Chess Pro Trainer™ every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
