# Kalam vs Learn Darija

The clearest difference is monetization model: Kalam at free with in-app purchases against Learn Darija's subscription. Kalam also leads on review sentiment (33% vs 0%) and ratings volume (6.8K vs 2). Learn Darija's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Kalam sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Learn Darija sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Learn Darija holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Kalam has 6.8K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Kalam's written reviews are positive against 0% of Learn Darija's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Kalam ships an update every 10 days, Learn Darija monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
