# MealieSwift vs Forked Recipes

The clearest difference is rating: Forked Recipes at 5.0 against MealieSwift's 3.6. Forked Recipes also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). MealieSwift's advantage is ratings volume (30 vs 2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MealieSwift sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per year and Forked Recipes sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Forked Recipes holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MealieSwift has 30 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

MealieSwift ships an update every 2 weeks, Forked Recipes every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
