# Smart Notes vs LecSync

The clearest difference is rating: Smart Notes at 5.0 against LecSync's 4.4. LecSync's advantage is monetization model (free vs freemium) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Smart Notes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and LecSync sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $13.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Smart Notes holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LecSync has 13 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Smart Notes ships an update every 2 months, LecSync every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
