# LitVPN vs ProtectShield

The clearest difference is rating: ProtectShield at 4.3 against LitVPN's 3.0. ProtectShield also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 6 weeks). LitVPN's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LitVPN sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and ProtectShield sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ProtectShield holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ProtectShield has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

LitVPN ships an update every 6 weeks, ProtectShield every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
