# SpeakSense vs Scriba

The clearest difference is update cadence: Scriba at every 3 weeks against SpeakSense's every 8 months. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SpeakSense sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Scriba sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SpeakSense ships an update every 8 months, Scriba every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
