# EXTRA SAFE vs Wave

The clearest difference is rating: Wave at 5.0 against EXTRA SAFE's 4.4. EXTRA SAFE's advantage is ratings volume (100 vs 1) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Wave holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EXTRA SAFE has 100 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

EXTRA SAFE ships an update fortnightly, Wave every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
