# Horika vs FilmMeter

The clearest difference is rating: FilmMeter at 4.8 against Horika's 3.3. FilmMeter also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (96% vs 75%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Horika sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and FilmMeter sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

FilmMeter holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FilmMeter has 64 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 75% of Horika's written reviews are positive against 96% of FilmMeter's.

Horika ships an update weekly, FilmMeter every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
