# Mathica by LearnWithSherlock vs hocus 3D

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Mathica by LearnWithSherlock at none against hocus 3D's 1. Mathica by LearnWithSherlock also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). hocus 3D's advantage is ratings volume (307 vs 3) and review sentiment (60% vs 50%). On price, update cadence, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. hocus 3D sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Mathica by LearnWithSherlock asks for nothing beyond the download.

Mathica by LearnWithSherlock holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: hocus 3D has 307 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Mathica by LearnWithSherlock's written reviews are positive against 60% of hocus 3D's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
