# Leaf Reading vs Star

The clearest difference is ads: Leaf Reading at none against Star's shown. Star's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 6 months) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Leaf Reading sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Star sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Leaf Reading ships an update every 6 months, Star every 2 days. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
