# Character Craft 5.5e vs Heartforge

The clearest difference is rating: Character Craft 5.5e at 4.3 against Heartforge's 3.8. Character Craft 5.5e also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). Heartforge's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 63%). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Character Craft 5.5e sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Heartforge sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
