# NoteSwan vs Music Notes

The clearest difference is ads: Music Notes at none against NoteSwan's shown. Music Notes also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (14 vs 1). NoteSwan's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NoteSwan sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Music Notes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

NoteSwan holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Music Notes has 14 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

NoteSwan ships an update every 4 months, Music Notes every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
