# Voice Memos vs Notebook

The clearest difference is monetization model: Voice Memos at free with in-app purchases against Notebook's subscription. Voice Memos also leads on ratings volume (272 vs 18). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Voice Memos sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Notebook sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Voice Memos holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Voice Memos has 272 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Voice Memos ships an update every 3 weeks, Notebook every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
