# WeightBuddy vs DonCapy

The clearest difference is ads: WeightBuddy at none against DonCapy's shown. WeightBuddy also leads on ratings volume (393 vs 2) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). DonCapy's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 70%) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WeightBuddy sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and DonCapy sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for WeightBuddy against 5.0 for DonCapy. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WeightBuddy has 393 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 70% of WeightBuddy's written reviews are positive against 100% of DonCapy's.

WeightBuddy ships an update fortnightly, DonCapy every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
