# Playbacks vs Risenote

The clearest difference is monetization model: Playbacks at free with in-app purchases against Risenote's subscription. Playbacks also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (1.3K vs 3). Risenote's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 84%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Playbacks sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per 7 days and Risenote sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Risenote holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Playbacks has 1.3K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 84% of Playbacks's written reviews are positive against 100% of Risenote's.

Playbacks ships an update every 4 days, Risenote weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
