# Chicken Scratch vs CotCot

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Chicken Scratch at 75% against CotCot's 0%. CotCot's advantage is price (Free vs $2.99) and rating (3.0 vs 2.0). On ratings volume, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

CotCot is free to download; Chicken Scratch costs $2.99 up front. Chicken Scratch sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and CotCot sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CotCot holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 1 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Chicken Scratch's written reviews are positive against 0% of CotCot's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Chicken Scratch ships an update every 3 weeks, CotCot every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
