# VPN vs Vmess VPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Vmess VPN at 100% against VPN's 50%. Vmess VPN also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). VPN's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (15 vs 5). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Vmess VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 15 and 5 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 100% of Vmess VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

VPN ships an update monthly, Vmess VPN fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
