# Word vs Cross Master

The clearest difference is ads: Word at none against Cross Master's shown. Cross Master's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 4 months) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.5). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Word sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Cross Master sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Word ships an update every 4 months, Cross Master weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
