# Echo.ai vs Kanji Step

The clearest difference is update cadence: Kanji Step at every 2 days against Echo.ai's every 5 days. Kanji Step also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Echo.ai sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Kanji Step sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Echo.ai ships an update every 5 days, Kanji Step every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 21, 2026 respectively.
