# PromptCast vs Trace

The clearest difference is ads: PromptCast at none against Trace's shown. PromptCast also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). Trace's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 9 days). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PromptCast sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Trace sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PromptCast ships an update every 9 days, Trace every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
