# Protexb vs Freedom DNS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Protexb at none against Freedom DNS's 3. Protexb also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Freedom DNS's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (28 vs 1). On price and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Freedom DNS sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Protexb asks for nothing beyond the download.

Protexb holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Freedom DNS has 28 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Protexb ships an update every 5 months, Freedom DNS fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
