# 2nd Text vs Temp Number

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Temp Number at 100% against 2nd Text's 50%. 2nd Text's advantage is rating (4.0 vs 2.3) and ratings volume (9 vs 3). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 2nd Text sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Temp Number sells 22 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

2nd Text holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 2.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 9 and 3 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of 2nd Text's written reviews are positive against 100% of Temp Number's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

2nd Text ships an update every 2 months, Temp Number every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
