# 2nd Text vs SmsCode

The clearest difference is ads: SmsCode at none against 2nd Text's shown. SmsCode also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). 2nd Text's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 20%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 2nd Text sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and SmsCode sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SmsCode holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 9 and 44 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of 2nd Text's written reviews are positive against 20% of SmsCode's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

2nd Text ships an update every 2 months, SmsCode weekly. Both last shipped on October 8, 2026.
