# ProTube vs Synthetiq Player

ProTube and Synthetiq Player both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Synthetiq Player's written reviews are positive against 74% of ProTube's. Synthetiq Player also leads on device support (4 vs 2) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). ProTube's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (16K vs 38). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ProTube sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Synthetiq Player sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for ProTube against 4.8 for Synthetiq Player. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ProTube has 16K ratings behind it against 38, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 74% of ProTube's written reviews are positive against 100% of Synthetiq Player's.

ProTube ships an update weekly, Synthetiq Player every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
