# App Lock vs Donote

The clearest difference is rating: Donote at 4.9 against App Lock's 1.0. Donote also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ads (none vs shown). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. App Lock sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Donote sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Donote holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Donote has 54 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

App Lock ships an update every 2 weeks, Donote weekly. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
