# Spreeder vs FocalRead

The clearest difference is update cadence: FocalRead at every 8 days against Spreeder's every 2 months. FocalRead also leads on ratings volume (98 vs 13). Spreeder's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spreeder sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and FocalRead sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Spreeder holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FocalRead has 98 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Spreeder ships an update every 2 months, FocalRead every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
